We know how frustrating and disruptive this outage has been, and we truly appreciate the patience our members have shown throughout the week.
At this time, MECU is still waiting for Sharetec, our core system provider, to restore access to our live environment. This is a nationwide event affecting credit unions that use Sharetec, and MECU remains in their restoration queue.
According to Sharetec, the outage was caused by an infrastructure failure involving physical equipment at a third-party data center that was overwhelmed by a cooling failure. Sharetec has been working to restore and validate affected systems and has successfully brought some credit unions back online over the last several days.
Please know that our team is ready. As soon as Sharetec restores our access, we will begin validating account and transaction data, and our staff will be available throughout the weekend if necessary to get our systems back up and running as quickly and accurately as possible.
Our drive-thrus will be open during normal Saturday business hours. Incoming ACH deposits are pending and will post once our live system is restored. Debit and ATM cards remain available within current offline limits. Online and mobile banking will remain unavailable until our environment is restored and validated.
Most importantly, your information remains secure. This was not a data breach, cyberattack, or ransomware event.
Thank you for your continued patience and for trusting MECU. We will continue to keep you informed as we receive meaningful updates from Sharetec.
