The Chairman’s Message
It is hard to believe that it has been 90 years since MECU first opened its doors to help the City of Oklahoma City employees with their personal financial needs. Since that time, we have seen so many changes in the economic and financial marketplace. Savings and Loans banks have come and gone, banks have merged and changed their names, and Oklahoma City has survived many challenges. However, some things do stay the same. At MECU, we continue to meet the needs of our membership while maintaining a strong financial institution.
I am pleased to report that your Credit Union ended the year in 2023 with assets exceeding $162 million. We operate a very safe and sound financial institution, and you can rest assured that your money is protected at MECU. Member accounts are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government, and an additional $250,000 by Excess Share Insurance (ESI).
MECU is committed to providing our members with a high level of service, whether they choose to visit one of our five locations or select from any one of our outstanding convenient services. MECU’s array of services include Visa® Credit cards, Visa® Debit cards, Online Banking, Mobile Banking, E-Statements, Online Bill Payment, Mobile Bill Payment, Pop-Money, Remote Deposit Capture, and Adeline, our telephone banking product. MECU is a member of the Credit Union Shared Service Centers, which offers our members more locations to transact your business with extended hours of operation. MECU is also a member of the ATM Zone and the Transfund Network. The ATM Zone gives our members over 75 free ATM’s (a list can be found on our website) and Transfund gives our members access to all Oklahoma 7-11 ATM’s free of charge.
